Hoch Construction and their subcontractors have been placing infrastructure in the ground before new concrete slab is poured later this summer. Electrical and network conduits now lead to new floor outlets across the building. These will make it much easier for patrons to plug in their devices when using the library without creating tripping hazards and blocking aisles, which was common in the old building. In addition to new plumbing, insulation will be placed under the slab to reduce the amount of energy needed to cool and heat the new library.
If you’ve driven by the site lately, you likely noticed a large white tent on the back half of the property. This is not a greenhouse! The contractors are using the tent to prefabricate as much as the structure as possible on site. It will be removed later this winter.
