The focus remains on preparing the site for upcoming construction. A lot of this work will never be noticed when the new Sequim Library is complete, but is critical to a well-built facility that will serve the community for decades to come. Preparations include filling old abandoned dry wells on the site, grading a new access road, and putting in drainage.

The shape of the expanded library is becoming clear as new footings are poured and work is done to prepare for new foundation. Sections in the middle of the old concrete slab were also removed where new deep footings have been placed to support structural steel columns in the future. These columns will help keep the new building strong and safe during an earthquake.
