On March 9, a small celebration was held at the Sequim Library to mark the last day the old building would be open to the public. The following morning, library staff immediately got to work preparing equipment and material for a move across town to the temporary location where the Sequim Library will operate during the estimated 12-month construction period.
Staff and professional movers who specialize in relocating library materials packed up approximately 50,000 items in the Sequim Library’s collection, in addition all of the furniture, computers and other equipment in the building. The movers deconstructed all of the shelving at the old building and reconstructed it at the temporary location, 609 W. Washington St., near the former JCPenney store.
