In December 2023, Port Angeles-based Hoch Construction won a bid to make improvements to the building that NOLS will use as a temporary library during the construction phase of Sequim Library Project. The building, located at 609 W. Washington St., near the former JCPenney store, was most recently used as a sporting goods store and a pharmacy before that.
NOLS kept improvements to a minimum, but to make the space safe and usable for the public and staff, these updates were necessary:
- Restrooms were made accessible
- Emergency exits and egress were fixed
- Power and networking were added
- The entrance was made to meet ADA standards
Hoch Construction has now completed their work and the space is ready to become the temporary Sequim Library for the next year.
