Articles from the Forks Forum
The Friends of Forks Library is a non-profit group of book-lovers dedicated to fund-raising for our local library. Book-sorting parties for our eclectic group have led to many fascinating discussions. The Forks Forum has kindly agreed to allow us to share our passion with a broader audience.

Your Forks Library features a large selection of car and truck repair manuals for both the ace mechanics and amateur tinkers out there. These volumes can be found in the rear in the reference section, and pages can be copied on the copier out front at .10 cents a scan.
Over 200 manuals are there, including the Motors, Chilton and Mitchell’s series and they feature both foreign and domestic repair info; tune-up, electronics and performance data; truck engine, clutch, transmission and drive axle technology; plus some individual car/truck/motorcycle manuals and also body work guides for those so inclined.
Our librarians would also like your input for adding new manuals and updating our collection this year. Grab a handbill from the front desk and list your preferences there in the space provided—maybe take one home for your brother or husband (or gear-grindin’ granny?) to fill out. Please return these to the librarians so they can get a sense of what manuals will be the most useful or desirable for local monkey-wrenchers, hot-rodders or tinkerers to enjoy.
Further help can also be had on our library’s Web site; you can access automotive sources that our NOLS system pays to let you have for free! Check it out on the Forks Library home page or have a librarian show you how to get it on one of the library’s free computers.
You can also help the library serve the community better by donating repair manuals you no longer use or need (whether current or vintage) that we could add to our collection. Be sure to browse through our handy home guides, as well as materials in other practical areas of crafts, hobbies, fix-it or collect-it fascination. It’s your library—use it and join in its support so we can make it even better.
