Port Angeles Library...Dedicated to the citizens of Port Angeles, the present library building opened its doors on Sunday, August 16, 1998. The library provides many services including reference services, young adult services and children's programs, services to the homebound and information about the Pacific Northwest. As part of the North Olympic Library System, the Port Angeles Library offers access to over 151,000 volumes, thousands of audio and video cassettes, magazines, newspapers, educational toys and a variety of media equipment.

Friends of the Library...Port Angeles Friends of the Library is a group of library-loving volunteers. A Friend's shop is maintained in the lobby to sell gift items and books that are either donated or that the library no longer needs. The Friends sponsor monthly programs during the winter months. New members are always welcome. Applications are available at the Checkout Desk.

Meeting Room...The Raymond Carver meeting room is available for public meetings. Contact library regarding reservations.

Size...The Port Angeles Public Library and North Olympic Library System Service Center totals about 35,000 square feet. The library itself comprises about 29,000. The pre-existing NOLS center, which was completely remodeled to tie in with the new library, is 5,700 square feet.

Parking...Space for 150 vehicles is provided through a shared arrangement with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. There are five handicapped spaces located near the main entrance to the building.

Site...The building and parking area occupy a large tract of land between Peabody and Chase streets at Lauridsen Boulevard. A block of Orcas Avenue was vacated to allow the building and parking to be integrated. The driveway to the parking area, accessed from both Peabody and Chase, has a drop-off lane which curves past the library entrance.
