North Olympic Library System
Request for Public Records – Statement and Procedure
The North Olympic Library System, in accordance with RCW 42.17.260, shall
make available for public inspection and copying all public records, unless the
record falls within the specific exemptions of subsection (6) RCW.42.17.310,
42.17.315, or other statute which exempts or prohibits disclosure of specific
information or records. To the extent required to prevent an unreasonable
invasion of personal privacy interests protected by RCW.17.310 and 42.17.315,
identifying details may be deleted in a manner consistent with RCW 42.17.310 and
42.17.315. However, in each case, the justification for any such deletion shall
be explained fully in writing.
In accordance with RCW 42.17.260, subsection (4)(b), the North Olympic
Library System shall make available for public inspection and copying all
indexes maintained for agency use. In accordance with RCW 42.17.260, subsection
(4)(a), the North Olympic Library System need not maintain an index as described
in RCW 42.17.260, subsection (3), since such an index would be unduly burdensome
to the agency because of the limited nature of such requests and the
considerable staff time which would need to be devoted to a retrospective
conversion of currently maintained indices. However, all public records of the
North Olympic Library System are indexed and available to the public through the
following process.
Procedure for obtaining public records:
A "Request for Public Records" form is available from the
Administrative Services Department of the North Olympic Library System, 2210
South Peabody, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

RCW.17.320.
If copies of the document are requested, they shall be made available at the
then current established per-copy fee established by the North Olympic Library
System.
In all events, a "Request for Public Records" will be responded to
within five (5) business days.
If the requested public document contains the names of individuals, such
lists may not be used for commercial purposes, as stipulated in RCW
42.17.260(5).
