More information about the Library closure
To partially close the budget gap, when the Library Board adopted the 2010 budget, they planned two one-week library closures, during which all staff will be on unpaid furlough leave. The first closure took place at the end of March 2010. The second closure is planned for Monday, August 30 through Monday, September 6. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, September 7, following the Labor Day holiday. Even if the upcoming levy proposition passes, NOLS will still have a projected budget shortfall for fiscal year 2010 since the additional property tax revenues resulting from an increased levy would not come to NOLS until the 2011 fiscal year.
